How Tiki Boom Boom works
Tikis are trapped inside ancient Spirit Stones. Fire colored pieces onto the board, match five to clear a path, and hit each Spirit Stone twice to set its Tiki free. Free every Tiki to beat the level.
Shooting
- Pick a spot on the edge of the board and fire. Your piece slides in a straight line until it runs into something, and stops in the last empty space.
- On a phone: touch the board, slide your finger to aim (a dotted line shows where the piece will go), and lift to fire.
- You can see what's coming: your piece, plus the next three in order.
- Nothing falls. Pieces stay where they land. A piece that slides all the way across closes that lane, so careless shots can wall off a Tiki.
- Each shot uses one move. Special pieces don't.
Matching
- Five or more pieces of one color, touching side by side, make a match and disappear. Any shape counts; diagonals don't.
- Only the piece you just fired can set off a match, and the whole connected group clears with it.
- Bigger matches score much more. Groups of four are your friends: one more piece and they go.
Freeing Tikis
- Every Spirit Stone takes two hits. The first wakes the Tiki. The second sets it free.
- A hit means firing a piece straight into the Spirit Stone. Matches next to it don't count.
- After the first hit, your piece sits against that side. Hit it again from another side, or clear that piece away with a match.
Big shots and bonuses
- Tiki Boom: make a match with the same shot that wakes or frees a Tiki, and the match scores extra: double for waking, triple for freeing.
- Skill Shot: one shot that makes a match, frees the last Tiki and wins the level earns a big bonus.
- Watch for the words Big Match!, Skill Shot! and Phew! when you pull off something special.
Stars and points
- Clearing a level earns stars, from one to three, based on your total:
- Points from matches and freed Tikis
- Move bonus for every move you have left
- Speed bonus for finishing quickly. Going slow never costs you anything.
- Skill bonus from a Skill Shot
- Fewer moves means more stars. Replay any level to beat your best.
- The ๐ counter adds up your best score on every level.
Things on the board
- Gray stones block shots and never clear in a match. Dig around them, or break them with the right tool.
- Buried treasure: some pieces carry a gem ๐ or a +3 moves. Match the piece to collect it. Each one pays once, so digging it out is a choice: treasure now, or a faster, higher-scoring finish.
Special pieces
Special pieces arrive in your queue now and then. They're free: they don't use a move.
- Wild โ (from level 15): turns into the color of the piece it hits, perfect for finishing a group of four. Fired into a Spirit Stone, it counts as a hit.
- Boulder โ (from level 30): smashes the first thing in its path, even a gray stone. Fired at a Spirit Stone, it wakes or frees it.
- Stone Bonker (from level 50): tap a gray stone to break it.
Helpers
Helpers sit beside the board once you unlock them. Some are free at first; after that they cost gems.
- Undo last shot (after level 15): take back a shot you regret.
- +3 moves (after level 22): add moves when a level runs long. Your first one is free.
- Swap for next (from level 40): skip your current piece and use the next one.
- Keep going (from level 25): ran out of moves? Buy five more and finish what you started.
Gems
Gems come from level rewards and buried treasure. Spend them on helpers when you need a hand. You start with a few, and some levels hand out more.
The map
After level 20 you discover the map of Tiki Island: the Beach, the Jungle, the Ruins, the Volcano and the Lagoon. Hidden rewards wait along the trail, and the mist hides what's next. Tap ๐บ any time to explore.
Tips
- Look before you shoot: find the groups of four.
- Think about where a piece will stop, not just where it starts.
- Don't close a lane you'll need later.
- Save the Boulder for the stone that's really in your way.
- Didn't make it? Trying again is free.
